Fabulous Face Painting
Face painting is an absolutely amazing idea to keep kids entertained at birthday parties and to allow them to be anything that they wish. See how still they sit while the artist works her magic and watch as their little faces light up in delight when they gaze into the mirror. Of course you could get brave and allow the kids to get arty and creative and do some face painting of their own as well.
Every child dreams of being a butterfly, a fairy or even a wizard. If you decide to take on the task of dressing up the faces of your child and his/her friends and using your creative skills, there are some tips that will help you along the way to face painting success.
Proper, professional face paints service or those used for stage productions are very expensive and when you are using so much for one function, you really need to guard what you have dearly. Never leave the paints where eager and inquisitive hands can get hold of them. If you are going to let the kids try their hand at their own face painting skills, be sure to buy a cheap kids party set for them to use.
Use a sponge to cover large areas of skin, this will use up less paint and it will take up less of your time. Always keep a variety of sponges for different colors and of course different paint brushes for different colors as well as paint brushes of differing thickness.
Patience is key and those few minutes will probably save you much more time than rushing. Let each coat dry first before applying another. Wet paints will smudge together and you’ll have to start over.
Know exactly what design you are following as children get impatient very quickly. They won’t want to sit still for a long time.
Face painting doesn’t necessarily have to be done freehand and you could save a lot of time by using a stencil. There are many available on the market which have common and well loved designs like hearts or stars. Have your own stensils printed and cut out if you can’t find any that are a little more creative than the norm. Keep stensils in big and small sizes, not all kids have the same size face after all.
Use a high stool for the kids, you won’t have to bend over and hurt your back to paint their faces. Keep a mirror handy as we all know that kids want to see the finished results immediately.
Face painting is a really fun and creative way to liven up a child’s birthday party and you could even incorporate a mini photo shoot once everyone has been transformed to whatever their hearts desire.
